- Subject: Aceex 2814 faxmodem jumper settings

- Hi All!
- I'm trying to help someone setup the aforementioned modem. He's running
- win95 on an MCA 486SX with 4 MB RAM (yeah...painful but hey, the modem
- should be fast assuming we can get it working) It's secondhand and came
- without documentation. After finding the COM port (COM 2), win95 can't see
- the modem and I figure it's because of the jumpers. I think factory
- default is COM 1 IRQ 4 but on his system, we need to set it up on COM 2
- (i/o 02F8-02FF) IRQ 03. There are 6 pairs of pins and three jumper blocks.

- When I opened the package, J1 was just over one pin, J2 was over both
- pins, and I believe J5 or J6 was over both pins. Initially, before trying
- different jumper positions, the modem wizard would look fairly hard (for
- about 6 or 7 seconds) at COM 2 but report it couldn't find any modem. But
- if I moved the blocks to other positions, it would look for *maybe* a half
- second then "no modem detected" .I don't have much experience with jumpers
- so humbly ask for some guidance. BTW, What is Aceex? I've never heard of
- this brand until yesterday. TIA for any assistance.
